for Everyone

All About Art Classes for kids 3-16 years old

Our art classes for kids are at the heart of what we do. Weekly classes meet from September through April. Conveniently located in downtown Overland Park, hue creative studio is easily accessible from all over the Kansas City Metro.

Fall semester is September-December: Enrollment is August 1st-31st. Art classes start the week of Aug 31 and meet 15 times throughout the semester.

Spring semester is January-April: Enrollment is December 1st-31st

There are two ways to pay tuition. Pay it monthly and cancel if needed for the next month by the 20th. Pay for an entire semester and get an automatic 15% discount. Once enrolled for the semester, there are no refunds and the student is expected to complete all classes. Full transparency, the scheduling app charges a one-time booking fee of $3.99 on orders over $100. This is a fee by Sawyer and not hue creative studio.

    Preschool Age 3-5 yrs Emerging Artists

    For the child and their caregiver: Preschool art classes are designed to foster creative experiences inspired by the senses, literature and artists. Each month we focus on an art concept and a famous artist. We also provide ideas to do at home to keep the process going! Tuition always includes all supplies, materials and a Hue Creative Studio art journal. Preschool classes meet three times per month for an hour. This class offers a fun art curriculum that involves blending creativity, engagement, and educational value!

    K-2nd grade Drawing FUN

    We encourage young artists to take creative chances and make progress! Drawing classes consist of a warm-up drawing, teaching time, work time, and free drawing time. Tuition includes all drawing materials and a Hue Creative Studio sketchbook. Students will work with ebony pencil, charcoal, colored pencils, pastels and ink. Drawing classes meet 15 times a semester, with make-up days available.

  • 3rd-5th grade Drawing 101

    This drawing class focuses on developing observational skills. Concepts like perspective, value, and composition are taught and practiced weekly. Working both from still-life and photo reference, students will get a drawing “workout!” We use a wide variety of drawing media: ebony pencil, charcoal, colored pencils, pastels and ink. Each week is a new lesson, as completed artwork is not the emphasis. Tuition includes all drawing materials and a hue creative studio sketchbook. Class meets 15 times throughout the semester, with make-up times available.

    6th-8th grade Drawing I02

    Artists will use ebony pencils, sharpies, alcohol ink markers, colored pencils and micron pens. This class focuses on inspiration and purpose by brainstorming subjects and composition. Students will create a finished drawing each month and have plenty of feedback. They will work from life, photo reference and imagination. Each class includes a warm-up drawing, a mini technique lesson, and lots of worktime. Tuition includes all drawing materials, a hue creative studio sketchbook. Drawing class meets 15 times throughout the semester with make-up classes available.
